Two local painters have launched their second exhibition to coincide with the Folkestone Triennial, this time marking it's closing days and beyond.

John Hosking MA and Eamon Everall MA, have taken over the Sassoon Gallery in Folkestone Library for the next month with a highly vibrant and eclectic series of artworks based on Stuckism.

They decided to stage an exhibition during the Triennial in order to boost the cause of 'Representational Painting' which they feel is, at times, somewhat overlooked.

John Hosking is a full time, Folkestone based, veteran painter with a steadily rising UK reputation. He worked under, among others the eminent and mercurial Fred Cuming RA, who coincidentally is also exhibiting in the area at Folkestone Town Hall.

Eamon Everall, was originally from Folkestone, and an ex-Harvey Grammar student, later becoming one of the twelve founders of the notorious 'Stuckists'

Stuckism, by now an international art movement fights the Representational Painting corner and is probably best known, to many, for the strangely clad demonstrators who picketed the Tate Gallery during the Turner Prize. Mr Everall, who at one time studied under that national treasure Sir Peter Blake also studied under Fred Cuming.

This coincidence is one of the many things these two have in common and foremost being a devotion to contemporary stuckism and Folkestone. Both also agree that paintings should speak for themselves without the now fashionable recourse to reams of supporting and at times spurious text.
