Tontine Street, Folkestone blaze sees half the property destroyed

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fought a blaze in a first floor flat in a four-story building in Tontine Street, Folkestone last night.



The fire started around 1.00am today, 2 February.

Crews used a high-pressure hose reel jet to put the fire out, followed by a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke and fumes from the property.


The flat was 80 per cent affected by heat and smoke with around half the property destroyed by the fire. There are no reports of any injuries and the cause is currently unknown.
