Match Preview by Hawkinge Town FC manager Danny Regan

This Saturday we entertain Rolvenden who are a side close to my heart, having spent three years playing for them in a successful spell as well as many a player in my current squad.

During that period our only losses ever seemed to come at the hands of The Golden Arrow.

It’s been another frustrating week for us as on the pitch our game against Sutton Athletic was postponed and has been rescheduled for 25th March.

Top of the League

Despite the disappointment of last weekend we remain at the top of the league and will be looking to secure another three points on Saturday.

Rolvenden always have and always will be a hard team to beat, when they want to play football not many sides can do it better and they at times become unplayable.

But when they become disgruntled and argue amongst themselves, I think even the players will admit, that can cause a self-destruct element.

This may not be our last meeting with Rolvenden as we could end up facing them in the final of the Weald of Kent Charity Cup with both them and us holding leads going into the semi-final second leg.

We beat Rolvenden 3-0 earlier in the season with a strong workman like performance. We took a battering for the first twenty minutes but got into the game after that and ended up comfortable winners.

Premier Division

The club this week have informed the Kent County League that we will accept promotion should we win the league. The financial costs increase significantly in the Premier Division but as a club we are prepared to meet those costs, which is fantastic news for both the players and myself.

We hope to now gain that promotion and repay the trust the board are showing in us with performances on the pitch.

The match on Saturday kicks off at 2.45pm at The Hawkinge Community Trust Football and Sports Ground, Incinerator Lane, Hawkinge.
