Thanet 999 caller is jailed

A man from Broadstairs who persistently made 999 calls to Kent Police when there was no emergency has been jailed by magistrates.
 

 


Peter Bennett pleaded guilty to two counts of persistently using a public communication network to cause annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety.

Between 14 October and 2 December 2016 and between 29 December 2016 and 3 January 2017 the 58-year-old, from Broadstairs, persistently made 999 calls to Kent Police when there was no emergency.

Bennett was sentenced at Thanet Magistrates’ Court on 23 February 2017 to 28 days in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.
