The snow has started to fall says Folkestone American Cousin

Dear All,

It is 6:30am, Thursday 9 February, here in the US and it's just started  snowing.

A quick, intense snow storm is currently underway but although it is described as 'brief' 10 to 13 inches of snow is predicted.

At some point the snow is expected to be falling at 3 inches an hour.

Hopefully it will be over, except the shoveling, by late afternoon.

With all the political battles and media battles over the last few months it is a relief to talk about another big story, although we in fact another on Sunday when Americans enjoyed the Superbowl.

This major event saw the New England Patriots come from behind to win again!

Anyway, let's get back to today, and the white stuff!

A foot of snow is not a lot if I reflect on my 65 years of New England winters, minus the weeks in Folkestone, it seems there is far more vehicle traffic than in my childhood.

The average driver drives too fast and hence causes all the major problems. However, one helpful development of modern science is that most major roads are chemically pre-treated which helps a lot.

Sadly no pool swim today though!
