Damian Collins, Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate for Folkestone and Hythe, will be opening Folkestone Art Society’s annual Spring Exhibition in The Grand, Folkestone, this week.

Previous chair of the Commons select committee for Culture, Media and Sport, Mr Collins will be opening an exciting show by members of a society that has been celebrating the artistic talent of local artists for nearly 90 years - the society was founded in 1928 and has over 200 members.

FAS achieved charitable status two years ago so that it could widen opportunities to promote art in the local community.

Chair, Sue Brelade said: ‘As an arts charity, we are thrilled to have Damian open our spring exhibition this year. We will be showcasing artworks from the traditional to the contemporary. The only limits are those of the imagination.’

The exhibition will be open daily from Saturday May 13th - Sunday May 21st, 10.00 am. - 5.00 pm. Entry is free and there is easy parking in The Leas outside. Bus services are a few minutes walk away.
