A man has been rescued from a cliff ledge in Ramsgate after the alarm was raised just before midday today, 13 May.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service worked with other emergency services to rescue a man from a ledge on the cliffs overlooking Ramsgate Harbour.

With the help of the Coastguard line rescue team, a firefighter and paramedic were lowered onto the ledge between Military Road and Paragon Promenade.

Together the pair assessed the man, thought to be in his 30s and stabilised him before he was carefully rescued from the ledge by a height vehicle cage and stretcher.

He was then placed in the care of SECAmb paramedics.

It's not known at this stage how the man came to be on the ledge.
