Drink driving Headcorn woman banned after being stopped on Channel Tunnel access road at Folkestone

A Headcorn woman has been banned from driving after she was stopped on the Channel Tunnel access road at Folkestone

 


Dawn Samwell  pleaded guilty to drink driving and was sentenced on 10 May 2017 at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court.

On 2 March 2017 the 48-year-old Headcorn woman, drove a Nissan Qashqai on the Channel Tunnel access road, Cheriton, and gave a blood test of 163 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 80 milligrammes.

Magistrates banned Samwell from driving for 18 months. She must also pay a £250 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Disqualification can be reduced by 139 days if, by 23 April 2018, she satisfactorily completes a course approved by the Secretary of State, the cost of which will not exceed £250.
