Hawkinge Town Football Club's Manager Danny Regan announced last night he has resigned from the club and is to take up the vacant manager’s post at Broadstairs FC.

Regan was thankful for being given a first opportunity in management: "I would like to thank Hawkinge Town for giving me my first opportunity in management and I’m extremely proud to have been involved in Hawkinge Town winning its first trophy last season.

"Although the season ended in disappointment overall I think we can look back on a successful season.

"I wish the club all the best going forward.

Danny Regan - "limitations being put in place are hindering their aspirations"

"They have a really exciting project on the go at Hawkinge but limitations being put in place, out of the clubs hands off the pitch, are hindering their aspirations.

"Hopefully they can be resolved shortly and Hawkinge can become a real face of local football.”

Regan, who was appointed manager last summer led Hawkinge to a Weald of Kent Charity Cup win and narrowly missed out on the league title eventually finishing runners-up in Kent County League Division One Central and East.

Broadstairs Football Club is the result of a recent merger between East Kent College and Broadstairs Youth Football Club.

Next season they take up the place of East Kent College in Kent County League Division One Central & East, the same division as Hawkinge Town.

Hawkinge Town Football Club have yet to respond to Regan’s resignation.
