Hawkinge Manager Danny Regan is asking for a strong performance on Saturday: “This Saturday we face New Romney for the sixth time this season. Our first encounter was abandoned. In the other games we have won one, drawn one and lost twice, once in the league and once in the league cup.

"In the league defeat we were comfortably leading New Romney with twenty minutes to go but the game was turned on its head by a silly sending off and costly defensive error which gave the momentum to the opposition who went on to win. The defeat was significant as it installed New Romney as firm favourites to win the league title.

Regan continued: "A strong performance this weekend is required because nothing less than a win will do for us. One point for New Romney will all but confirm them as league winners as they have a game in hand against East Kent College and an easy victory would be expected. Even if we win against New Romney it would mean the title would go down to goal difference and I still think it’s possible that they could put ten goals past East Kent College to win the league.

"Unfortunately we will be giving the advantage to New Romney before we even enter the field of play as we have seven players missing through injury and suspensions but I will aim to put our strongest line up on the pitch in what is our biggest game of the season.”

The match at Maud Pavilion, Station Road, New Romney TN28 8LQ kicks off at 2.45pm.
