33-year-old man charged in connection with an assault in Ashford

A 33-year-old man has been charged in connection with an assault in Ashford.


The man, of no fixed address, was charged on Monday 29 May 2017 with two counts of assault, possession of an offence weapon in a public place and going equipped for theft.

The charges relate to an incident in Ashford High Street at around 9pm on Sunday 28 May 2017 where a 50-year-old man received multiple cuts and bruises.

Officers arrested the 33-year-old near to the scene at 9.30pm and seized a hammer and magnetic de-tagging device.

The man was also charged with a third count of assault in connection with an incident in Station Road on Thursday 2 March 2017.

He remains in police custody and is due to attend Medway Magistrates’ Court via video link on Tuesday 30 May 2017.
