Following a historic year for The North School Lions basketball program, Head Coach Andrew Sunderland and Assistant Coach Jamie Tong will reprise their roles as the coaching staff of the South East England U17 Boys Regional Team for the 2017 campaign.

The South East England team is comprised of elite players from Kent, Surrey and Sussex who are selected to train with the coaching staff throughout the summer months in preparation for the Regional Development Tournament which takes place at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester over the weekend of the 9th and 10th September 2017.

At the tournament, the 10 regions of England come together to compete for the Regional Championship, over two days of talent-loaded competition.

Members of the England selection panel will also be present at the tournament to review the talent on display and make call-ups for the England U18s squad.

Head Coach Andrew Sunderland commented, "Our priority is to identify and develop young players who have the talent to progress on to the England U18 National team. Last year, two of our players were called up to the England U18 squad and our target is to exceed that number at the end of the 2017 campaign. We have rigorously reviewed the 2016 program and we are excited to implement a variety of new strategies this year to ensure that we meet our target."
