Investigating officer Police Constable Steven Baker said: ‘The victim said she was driving slowly down Charing Hill intending to turn right into a layby.

‘Three cyclists passed her. As they did one is reported to have grabbed hold of her rear windscreen wiper and snapped it off the car.

‘During a subsequent altercation, the victim said another of the cyclists assaulted her.’

The two offenders were on racing bikes and were wearing Lycra cycling outfits. They were aged between 45 and 55.

Police Constable Baker said: ‘Charing Hill is a busy stretch of road and I am hoping someone may have witnessed the incident or recognises the descriptions of the cyclists.’
