Weather: Warning of thunderstorms and torrential rain arriving in Kent this afternoon

Contributed by editor on Jun 02, 2017 - 09:15 AM

There is warning of torrential  downpours with thunderstorms this afternoon, 2 June.

The chief forecaster at the Met Office warns of very warm, humid air coming up from France which brings the threat of thunderstorms and could have the potential to give 25-30 mm of rain in an hour.

Whilst most places will miss the worst, it could lead to localised surface water flooding and difficult driving conditions.

Frequent lightning and perhaps hail could be additional hazards.
