Crime: Bafta-nominated actor charged with possessing fake gun in Faversham pub

A stage and screen actor has been charged following a disturbance at a pub in Faversham. 
 

 


Kent Police was called at 8.22am on Tuesday 8 August 2017 after a member of the public was reported to have been in possession of a weapon at the Leading Light pub in Preston Street, Faversham.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Officers supported by armed units attended the scene and shortly before 12pm arrested a man in the Faversham Creek area.

Fear of violence

Movie and stage actor John McEnery, 73, of no fixed address, has been charged with possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He has been bailed to appear before Maidstone magistrates on Friday 25 August 2017.
