Detectives investigating reports of criminal damage in Canterbury are appealing for witnesses.

Kent Police received a report of several damaged gravestones in a cemetery in Ashford Road, Chartham, near Canterbury.

It is believed this could have happened between Wednesday 3 January and Tuesday 9 January 2018.

Nearby in Brice Avenue on Friday 5 January 2018 the wing mirror of a car was also damaged. And on the same day in Ashford Road a garden shed was smashed.

Officers are not ruling out the possibility that these reports may be linked and would like to hear from any witnesses as soon as possible.

Sergeant Lee Thompson from the Community Safety Unit in Canterbury said: ‘We are carrying out enquiries and assessing the extent of the damage in the area. Whilst we do this we urge residents to get in touch regarding any other incidents of this type, that may not have been reported to us yet.

‘We appreciate how upsetting and how costly criminal damage can be for victims and will do everything we can to locate the offenders.’
