Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to a large fire involving three barns, full of thousands of tonnes of straw and hay, in Station Road, Pluckley near Ashford overnight.

People living nearby were advised to close windows and doors due to the large smoke plume coming from the site. Six fire engines and a bulk water carrier were on the scene, and crews used four main jets and a hose reel jet to tackle the blaze.

Around 60 cattle in close proximity to the fire were moved, and firefighters worked to salvage as many hay bales as possible.

The fire started at around 7.30pm on 7 November and three fire appliances were still on the scene some twelve hours later.
