Kent Police officers investigating reports of thefts from vehicles across Thanet have arrested two people.

A number of reports of thefts or attempted thefts from cars in Minster and Birchington, were reported to have taken place between 3 and 4 November.

As part of their enquiries, officers arrested a 45-year-old man from Ramsgate and a 34-year-old woman on Tuesday 6 November 2018 on suspicion of theft from vehicles.

Both have been released on bail until 26 November.

A number of items have been recovered by officers, including satellite navigation devices and sunglasses, which are believed to be stolen, and work is ongoing to reunite the property to their owners.

Detective Constable Hisham Hijazi said: ‘We believe there might be other victims, possibly from elsewhere in Thanet, who have not reported their thefts to police, and we ask them to call us as we might have their lost items.

‘We would also like to ask that anyone who thinks they have seen people acting suspiciously around their car or driveway, or caught it on CCTV, to come forward with that information, as it could prove helpful to our investigation.

‘We are also reminding people to ensure their cars are locked and any valuable items are removed when leaving them unattended, even if parked at home.’

Witnesses can call Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting ZY/6596
