Fabulous flowerbeds and creative containers will be rewarded in a gardening competition for tenants and leaseholders of East Kent Housing.

Residents in council houses across Folkestone and Hythe who take pride in their plots are invited to enter them in a range of categories, including front and back garden, communal garden or container, vegetable patch and best new garden.

There is also a category for junior gardener and most improved garden, and the winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony in August.

Cllr Alan Ewart-James, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “Many of our tenants take great pride in their gardens and containers and these awards are a way for us to recognise the work they put in to keep them looking their best.

“Floral displays and well-kept gardens make a huge difference to an area and can help make it an even nicer place to live. I’m looking forward to seeing lots of entries.”

Entries can be made via the East Kent Housing website and the deadline is 15 June. The competition is organised in partnership with the Shepway Tenants and Leasehold Board and supported by Mila Maintenance.
