More than 1,000 girls and their Leaders will gather at Leeds Castle on Saturday 19th May to launch the Leeds Castle Girlguiding Challenge badge.

Rainbows, Brownies and their Leaders will arrive at Leeds Castle from all over North West Kent between 10am and 10.45am and they will enjoy a day of activities while completing their Leeds Castle Challenge pack.

The group will tour the Castle and meet Henry VIII, enjoy a falconry display and visit the bird centre. They will also visit the Maze and other Castle attractions. A challenge booklet with puzzles, questions and quests will be completed during the visit and a specially designed badge will be awarded to those completing the challenge.

Roo Tucker, Girlguiding Kent West event’s organiser, said: “The challenge and badge have been put together by Girlguiding Kent West and the Leeds Castle Education team over the winter months.

Royal Wedding

"When it was discovered that the chosen date for the launch coincided with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, the excitement grew. What a wonderful opportunity for our girls to be at this beautiful castle on such an important date. A day they will always remember!”

Everyone there will have the opportunity to sign a book of congratulations to be sent to the royal couple.

Helen Ellis, Head of Education at Leeds Castle said, “We’re delighted to invite so many girls from Girlguiding Kent West to complete the Leeds Castle Challenge and receive their specially designed badge. It’s one of several activities and charitable events that take place as part of the Leeds Castle Foundation’s mission.”

The Brownies, Rainbows and Leaders will be in Girlguiding uniform, but as a special recognition of the wedding celebrations they will wear flowers in their hair and receive a royal wedding celebration gift.
