Man to appear at Canterbury Crown Court following distraction burglaries in Ashford

A 51-year-old man from Ashford is to appear in Canterbury Crown Court charged in connection with distraction burglaries in the town.

The man was charged on Wednesday 13 June with carrying out a burglary with intent to steal at a property in Arcon Road, Ashford, on 11 June.

He was also charged with the attempted burglary with intent to steal in a property in Beaver Lane, Ashford on 11 June.

He appeared via virtual link at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 13 June where he was remanded in custody and will next appear at Canterbury Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.

Officers are continuing to investigate reports of distraction burglaries in Ashford, and remind residents to remain vigilant when opening the door to people they don’t know and ensure their identity is confirmed before allowing them into their homes.


People are advised to report any suspicious behaviour to Kent Police.
