Thoughtless parking in Folkestone leads to withdrawal of bus service

Part of the 71 bus route service is to be withdrawn by public transport operator Stagecoach because of inconsiderate parking in Hollands Avenue in Folkestone.

Bus no 71

Notices have been posted on buses and at the Folkestone bus station that route 71 buses, from Monday 16th June, will be withdrawn from visiting Hollands Avenue off Wear Bay Road.

The reason given is that it is due to persistent inconsiderate car parking in the turning area at the top of Hollands Avenue, leading to buses being trapped or unable to turn at all.

Bus no.71 will now only travel to Stanbury Crescent and the return will be in Wear Bay Road at Bowles Well Gardens.

Bus no 102

Another route is also subject to change due to Dover Road being closed for roadworks over the next few evenings, until the 16th June between 1900hrs and 0700hrs.

Bus no 102 to and from Dover is diverted via Creteway, Canterbury Road, Blackbull Road and Foord Road in the evenings and will not serve the harbour area of the town or Tram Road.

Other traffic may also be diverted or delayed around the roadworks.
