A drug dealer caught operating from a car in Tunbridge Wells has been jailed after cocaine with a street value of up to £6,000 was seized.

During the evening of 21 October 2019 officers from the town’s Community Policing Team noticed a man acting suspiciously in a Mercedes.

The vehicle was brought to a stop in London Road, where an initial search led to the discovery of 18 wraps of Class A drugs as well as £705 in cash.

The 18-year-old was arrested, before his home in Eltham High Street, London was also searched, where a further 82 wraps were seized.

An examination of his mobile phone showed it contained postcodes of prospective ‘customers’ he intended to supply drugs to. The street value of the seized drugs was estimated to be between £4,000 and £6,000.

He was charged with possessing cocaine with intent to supply and with possession or control of identity documents with intent (in relation to a false driving licence).

Appearing before Maidstone Crown Court he pleaded guilty and on Thursday 28 November was sentenced to two years and six months in a young offenders’ institution.
