Kent Police warn shoppers following reported sneaky distraction thefts in Tunbridge Wells and Paddock Wood

Shoppers are warned to be vigilant following reported distraction thefts in Tunbridge Wells and Paddock Wood car parks



 

On 23 November 2019, a woman knocked on the window of a stationary vehicle in a supermarket car park in Linden Park Road, and asked the occupants to sign a fundraising petition.

As the suspect leaned into the car with a clipboard it is alleged she stole a purse.

On the same day, two further thefts were reported by motorists at a supermarket car park in Church Road, Paddock Wood, after a woman with a clipboard asked for charitable donations while leaning into their cars.

The suspect is described as being white, around 25 years old, of slim build, with brown hair and a foreign accent, possibly eastern European. She was wearing blue jeans and a white anorak.
