Man suffers multiple facial injuries in assault outside pub in North Lane Canterbury

Witnesses to a reported assault at The Westgate Inn in Canterbury are being urged to contact Kent Police.

A man in his 20s suffered multiple cuts to his face after he was allegedly assaulted by a man at the entrance of the pub in North Lane.

Investigating officer PC Gareth Foreman said: ‘This happened as the victim was walking into the pub and the suspect was leaving on Sunday 17 March 2019 at around 10pm.

'The victim was with a friend at the time of the assault and didn’t recognise the man. They were both knocked to the floor during the incident before the suspect, along with another man, fled in the direction of the Westgate Towers.’


The victim was taken to a local hospital but his injuries are not believed to be serious.

The suspect is described as a white man, of large build and around 5ft 6ins tall. He was clean shaven and believed to be between 19 and 21 years old. He had short black curly hair and was wearing a navy blue tracksuit.

CCTV footage

Officers are carrying out enquiries and reviewing available CCTV footage but would like anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward with information.
