Two men arrested after drugs and phones thrown into Maidstone Prison

Two men have been arrested after suspected drugs and mobile phones were thrown over a wall and into Maidstone Prison.

Kent Police was called at 4.15pm on Sunday 5 May 2019 when it was reported suspicious parcels had been found inside the prison grounds.

A search of the local area was carried out and patrols in Week Street located two people matching a description of the suspects. They were reported to have attempted to resist arrest and one of them ran away from officers, before he was located again in Sandling Road.


A 19-year-old man from Southall, Middlesex was arrested on suspicion of throwing a prohibited article into prison and for resisting arrest.

A man, aged 18 from Hanwell, London was also arrested, for throwing a prohibited article into prison and escaping from lawful custody.

Both men have been bailed to return to a police station on 31 May.
