Hawkinge Town 7 - 1 Otford United

Hawkinge secured their first points of the season in this resounding win against fellow early season strugglers Otford Utd, as youngster Brandon Potts bagged a fantastic hat-trick.

The Hawks saw their first half dominance pay off as they edged ahead with goals from Liam Jelly and Charlie Partridge. Otford Utd almost pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time; however Hawks young stopper Jamie Wallace pulled off an incredible save, reminiscent of Gordon Banks save from Pele in the 1970 Mexico World Cup.

The second half saw the Hawks continue to take the game to their visitors.

A superb free kick from Ryan Taylor put the Hawks further ahead, however youngster Brandon Potts stole the show with a brilliant hat-trick, to cap a fine personal performance.

Otford pulled a goal back, but the scoring was completed when Hawks substitute Wardi Soulaimana slotted home from the penalty spot to complete the rout.

After the game Hawks manager Did Williams said, ‘The boys did me proud today and it was great to get our first points on the board. We now need to build on this performance and take the momentum into our next game.’

Hawkinge hit the road next weekend as they travel to Faversham Strike Force.

Hawkinge team: Wallace, Devine, Kearns, Gondongwe, Cole, Jackson, Potts, Everitt, Taylor, Partridge, Jelly. Subs: Farnham, Redfern, Sheridan, King, Soulaimana
