Police officers assaulted by three men in Canterbury fracas

Kent Police is appealing for witnesses after two officers were assaulted in Canterbury.

The incident happened shortly after 4am on Saturday 14 March 2020 following a report of a disturbance in St George's Street.

Two officers attended the scene and were assaulted by three men as they attempted to make an arrest in Butchery Lane.

Three men, a 25-year-old and a 22-year-old from Canterbury and a 22-year-old from Folkestone, were arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker. All three have since been bailed until Monday 6 April.


An investigation remains ongoing and officers are appealing to anyone who saw the incident or who may have mobile phone footage to contact Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/47552/20.
