Why does it take so long to open the front page?

There are many pages associated with our front page, some of the content is brought in from other websites. The page will only fully load after the slowest link has connected to the Hawkinge Gazette. (You should be able to see the Gazette front page after no more than 8 seconds on a 512kb/sec connection) If you are finding the connection slow your service provider should be able to increase the speed of your broadband service. Another method would be to make the news page your link to the site. Try using this link

Can I advertise on your site?

Yes, we are a community site supplying news and information for the South East corner of Kent and will accept a limited amount of advertising. We are a non-profit making enterprise and wish only to cover our costs. We do not accept any advertising of an adult nature.

I am a member of a local club, will you publicise our events?

Yes, we are happy to do this for all community non-profit making organisations, free of charge. We also give clubs a dedicated section on the site for their news and events. There is no charge for this service.

Is the Hawkinge Gazette available in a printed format?

The Hawkinge Gazette is only available online and there are no plans to change this. We don't want to be yet another unsolicited printed publication dropping through your letterbox and we would prefer to leave it to you to decide if you want us to come into your home.

I am getting error messages including 'Error! Could not do what you wanted. Please check your input.' What is the problem?

The error messages only occur when using Microsoft Internet Explorer and do not affect the running of the site. You can safely ignore them. No error messages occur when using Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari browsers and we would recommend you try these. They appear to resolve our pages faster than Internet Explorer and we at the Hawkinge Gazette always use the Google Chrome browser which we find to be quick and easy. It is particularly fast if you are using a Google Mail account.

How do I print a story?

Click on the print icon at the bottom of the story page. This opens up a printer friendly page. On your keyboard press Ctrl + p and the page will print.
