LIB DEMS BOW TO PUBLIC INCONVENIENCE

Lib Dem Councillors have voted to re-open Shepway's toilets at a group meeting last week.

The plan will mean every toilet in the district re-opening if formal approval is granted at the next Cabinet meeting of the council.

Cllr Linda Cufley explained the u-turn and said, "The people of Shepway have spoken clearly on this issue and made it clear that they want the public conveniences open again."

But the re-opening of the toilets will mean that savings will have to be found elsewhere in the Council's budget. The Lib Dems are pledging to consult local people on where savings should be found.

Cllr Cufley said that all toilets should now be open within weeks.
