A Bring and Buy sale, in aid of a local boy who was seriously injured whilst on holiday in Spain, is to be held at Hawkinge Village Hall tomorrow (Friday).

It is hoped that the sale of donated goods, between 3 and 6pm, will raise even more money for the family of Trent Stevens. So far local people and organisations have raised more than £3,000 to help the family, who flew back to England this week with their still seriously ill son.

Nine-year-old Trent, who is on a ventilator at Guy's Hospital in London, was discovered lying unconscious at the bottom of a swimming pool in Ibiza where he and his parents, Damion and Natasha, and little brother, Leon, had gone on holiday.

His dad dived in to pull him out and an ambulance was called. Trent was rushed to a nearby hospital and put on a life support machine.

When villagers heard the terrible news they immediately started trying to raise money to help the family. There were collections in local shops and donations poured in from local businesses.

Pupils at Hawkinge Primary School, where Trent goes to school, sent cards and other messages to their friend.
