WORK BEGINS TO SAVE LOCAL HOMES FROM FLOODING

The final phase of work securing the coastline between Littlestone and St Mary's Bay on Romney Marsh has begun.

The seawall will be raised and when completed it will provide better protection for almost 3000 homes.

Work on the scheme began two years ago but there was controversy last year when fisherman wanted compensation after they were banned from the area during the construction.

The final phase is expected to take six months to complete.
