Opening the 'green' doors in memorial of two key figures in Hythe

The Hythe Catholic Church community are benefitting from two new doors thanks to a £3,000 KCC members grant from  Green Party councillor Martin Whybrow.

The previous doors were very old and no longer kept out the cold.

Chris Capon MBE, a regular at the Church and former County Councillor first raised this project and was taken up by Judith McCormick who had served as Town Clerk.

Both Chris and Judith have subsequently died and the doors are seen as a fitting tribute to them both.

Barry Sansom said “Chris and Judith would be very pleased with the result. My wife calls them ‘The Capon Doors’, and they will always remind me of him. The doors have made a huge difference and everyone who uses the church has commented on the difference they have made”.
