Officers from Canterbury Community Policing Team were patrolling the Tankerton area on Wednesday 15 February 2017 when they recovered cash and a quantity of a substance, initially estimated to be £10,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin, hidden under a shrub.

Shortly after, two people were seen by officers acting suspiciously nearby. Both were stopped and arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug.

A 28-year-old man from Southend-on Sea and a 15-year-old boy from Tower Hamlets have been released on police bail until 12 May while enquiries are continuing.

Detective Constable Peter Frampton said: `If people are concerned there might be illegal drug or criminal activity near to where they are living, we would encourage them to report anything suspicious as that information may prove invaluable for officers who work to disrupt the drugs supply in to an area.

`Reports can be made by calling 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.' .
