Man charged over damage to shop windows, cars and homes in centre of Whitstable

Kent Police officers investigating reports of criminal damage in Whitstable town centre have charged a man.


The man aged 36, of no fixed address, was charged with criminal damage on Tuesday 23 May 2017.

He is accused of being responsible for incidents in Cromwell Road, High Street and Oxford Street on Monday 22 May 2017 where shop windows, homes and vehicles were damaged.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court via video link on Wednesday 24 May 2017.

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident, who haven’t already spoken to police. Anyone with information is asked to phone Kent Police on 01843 222289 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting reference number 22-1280.
