Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have searched a smoke-logged house in Lister Road, Margate, following reports of a fire where people were still inside the property.

Crews arrived shortly before 9.30am today 27 August and were able to quickly extinguished the blaze on the ground floor using a high-pressure hose reel jet.

A dog has been successfully resuscitated by firefighters after being given oxygen therapy using specialist animal kit carried by all Kent's fire engines.

All people have been accounted for with no injuries.

KFRS say the cause of the fire is thought to be suspicious and will be investigated by Kent Police in conjunction with their fire investigation officers.
