It is reported a shopper visiting the town centre over the Christmas period had her purse stolen, after she was targeted by a stranger who deliberately bumped into her.

The incident happened on 12 December 2018 when the victim, aged in her 40s, was in The Mall shopping centre. At around 12pm a woman knocked into her, causing the victim to fall to the floor and to drop her handbag.

The suspect is said to have picked up the handbag and handed it back to the victim, asking her if she was okay. Around 15 minutes later the victim realised her purse was missing. She later discovered bank cards had been used to make several purchases in shops.
