Pupils from The Churchill School in Hawkinge and Selsted School will be at St. Peter's
Church in Swingfield on Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon as part of the
village's Remembrance events.
St Peter's Church is a redundant
Anglican church in the village near Hawkinge. It is recorded in the National
Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under
the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.
Whilst there the pupils will be completing workbooks to identify soldiers who lost their lives in
The
First and Second World Wars and will establish where they lived and
discover information about their lives.
On Sunday,10th November, the Lych Gate Service of Remembrance at St. Peter's will
commence at around 11.45am after the Reverend
and local dignitaries arrive from visiting other churches in the Parish.
Light refreshments for the children will be provided after the Lych Gate
service.
