An investigation has been launched by detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate after a cash machine was targeted at a supermarket in Wye.

Kent Police received a report at around 1.45am on Friday 8 November 2019 that the shop in Churchfield Way was broken into.

Thieves left the cash machine damaged and the cash box, which contained a substantial amount of money, was removed from inside.

Witnesses reported seeing a silver 4x4 vehicle along with a Vauxhall Astra leave the scene and it is understood that a vehicle was used to break the front shutters of the shop in order to get inside.

Detective Sergeant Jason Booth said: ‘We have been carrying out our initial enquiries at the scene and have spoken to a number of witnesses. We would ask anyone else who has information and has not yet been in touch to provide details by calling Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting reference 08-0077.

‘We would also like to speak to anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage in the area of Churchfield Way between midnight and 3am, which could help us trace the movements of the suspects who were all believed to be wearing dark clothing.’

Alternatively anyone with information can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers in Kent anonymously on 0800 555111.
