Shoppers are warned to be vigilant following reported distraction thefts in Tunbridge Wells and Paddock Wood car parks
On 23 November 2019, a woman knocked on the window of a stationary vehicle in a
supermarket car park in Linden Park Road, and asked the occupants to sign a
fundraising petition.
As the suspect leaned into the car with a clipboard it is alleged she stole a
purse.
On the same day, two further thefts were reported by motorists at a supermarket
car park in Church Road, Paddock Wood, after a woman with a clipboard asked for
charitable donations while leaning into their cars.
The suspect is described as being white, around 25 years old, of slim build,
with brown hair and a foreign accent, possibly eastern European. She was wearing
blue jeans and a white anorak.
