Over 130 steam engines of all shapes, sizes, types and descriptions descended upon Little Engeham Farm near Woodchurch last weekend for the largest yet Weald of Kent Steam Rally.

Now in its sixth year, all things to do with steam were very much centre stage.

“The focus was on displaying steam engines in all their forms” said rally director Bill Giles.

From scale miniatures to full size traction engines, rollers, cranes, lorries and tractors, exhibitors came from across the country, from Durham to Sussex.

With classic cars, military vehicles, ploughing displays, a vintage fun fair and a comprehensive array of trade stands, there was something for everyone to enjoy over the popular two day festival.

“We’ve tried to provide an educational as well as fun day out” added Mr. Giles, “With working displays and a restoration marquee where people can witness what goes into restoring some of these spectacular engines to their former glory.

The whole event is really about celebrating and maintaining the legacy of these beautiful machines.”
