By Ray Duff – There were lots of decorated windows, shop fronts, street parties and musical events across Folkestone over the Queen’s 70th Anniversary Jubilee celebrations over the first weekend of June.

Many shop fronts around the town were adorned with windows full of bunting and flags for all to enjoy, whilst many homes also joined in with the bunting and flags.

Bouverie Place in the town centre held  musical events alongside a number of stalls with Academy FM along to provide the entertainment.  Folkestone Library produced a whole host of historical displays from their archives of royal visits and news articles.

Some cafe’s held cake stalls, whilst others had quizzes and other events.

On the Leas, the Bandstand was festooned with bunting, whilst numerous art, food and charity stalls provided visitors with lots of entertainment.

The musical events at the bandstand featured many local groups playing an eclectic mix of tunes and the Romney Marsh Morris dancers provided their unique displays and even encouraged people to join in!

On the Thursday and Friday, people thronged to the seafront areas as well, whilst street party’s were held in several roads on Saturday and Sunday.
