Is the spectacular Brecon Mountain Railway worth a 400 mile round trip from Kent?

One of the most picturesque preserved railways that I have visited is the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway, it’s just a few miles from Merthyr Tydfil in Wales and you arrive at the station at Pant.

Railway pioneer, Colonel Holman Fred Stephens was born on 31st October 1868 and the society bearing his name will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of his birth  next year.

Having visited East Kent Railway's final season event day, 40 Shillings Day in 2016, visitor numbers this looked even higher than last years busy day.

The Bure Valley Railway is the same gauge as the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway (RDHR) in Kent and on occasions there are reciprocal visits of each railway's locomotives.
