An exhibition of artefacts and memorabilia relating to the 25th anniversary of the setting up of the Royal Gurkha Rifles Brigade has opened at Folkestone Museum.

A rare treat for steam enthusiasts saw a former LNER B1 locomotive 31603 Mayflower haul an excursion tain through Kent on Thursday with stops in Folkestone.

There was a good turnout on Saturday 15 June for the regular monthly litterpick in Hawkinge and although it was the usual haul of fag ends, sweet papers, bottles and cans everyone agreed that overall there was less litter than normal.

Folkestone Town Council has announced the 11th annual Armed Forces Community Fun Day, which is being held on The Leas on Sunday 30 June, will this year include an exhilarating air display from the Red Arrows.



Flying the Flag in Dover for our Armed Forces

To mark the start of Armed Forces Week, flag raising ceremonies are being organised around the country to raise the Armed Forces Day flag on Monday 24 June – including a ceremony outside Dover Town Council offices on Biggin Street, Dover from 10.15am.
