A person has been charged following allegations they stole items from a supermarket in Maidstone and then spat at a shop worker.

On Tuesday 17 November 2020, a woman entered the store in Well Road where it is reported she stole a quantity of grocery items.

As the suspect left the premises, she was challenged by staff and it is alleged she spat in the face of one of the employees.

Officers attended the scene and the woman was arrested.


Christine Brown of Richmond Road, Gillingham, was later charged theft and assault.


The 38-year-old was later bailed to Maidstone Crown Court on 20 January 2021.
