A Maidstone resident has been arrested following an assault in the town centre.

Officers were called to Lower Stone Street at its junction with Palace Avenue, at around 8.30pm on Saturday 21 November 2020. It is alleged a man had been assaulted next to some benches.

The victim, a man in his forties, was taken to a local hospital for treatment to a head injury. He has since been discharged.

Later the same day, a 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody. He was subsequently bailed to return to the police station on 19 December.

Investigators continue to appeal for witnesses to the incident, or anybody who has any information, to call Kent Police on 01622 604100, quoting crime reference 46/208240/20.
