Deal MP Natalie Elphicke has slammed plans for the construction of a new airfield west of Deal, warning of environmental and noise pollution.

Commercial flying should be carried out at Manston Airport instead

Mrs Elphicke has written to Ministers pressing them to take urgent action. She says the site is not suitable for this commercial activity and that commercial flying should be carried out at Manston Airport instead.

Planning permission is being sought for a new airfield near Little Mongeham and Northbourne.

Deal MP, Natalie Elphicke, has written to the Aviation Minister and Civil Aviation Authority chiefs setting out her concerns about the proposed new airfield.

Mrs Elphicke says: “This proposal is completely inappropriate. The noise and environmental pollution is likely to be very disruptive for the villages of Little Mongeham and Northbourne and the town of Deal. I have written to Ministers and the Civil Aviation Authority setting out my grave concerns about this proposal for a new commercial airfield. I have also raised this matter with local councillors, who I know share concerns about the plans.”
