A suspect from Folkestone is to appear in court charged in connection with the rape of a woman in Ashford.

The 18-year-old man was charged with two counts of rape.

He appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 9 August where he was remanded in custody.

The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 6 September.

The charges follow an investigation into the sexual assault which reportedly took place in an alleyway in Ashford High Street during the early hours of Saturday 31 July 2021.

Officers are still appealing for witnesses to come forward, in particular three men who walked a short distance with the victim afterwards, before she left in a taxi.
