Cold callers by John Gorham

I would just like to repeat a message that I sent out last week, concerning cold callers to your front door.

If you do have a cold caller, that goes on to tell you that you need something doing to your property, I suggest you politely decline, and shut the door.

If what the cold caller told you concerns you in any way, then contact your own trades person to call and have a look. This is the best way of finding out if a job actually needs doing, and you will get a good job done at a fair price.

Going on from this, if you have a cold caller that states they are from the gas board, electric company, Police or any other service, ask to see an ID card, and if you are still slightly suspicious then ask the person to wait outside whilst you check with their company, if they are genuine, they will not mind.

Routine patrol and checks of Romney Marsh today.

Keep well and keep safe.

Folkestone Vehicle Seizure / No Insurance / Drug Driving By Katie Garcia

Officers were conducting high visibility patrol in the Folkestone area, when they noticed a person driving a Vehicle without Insurance.

The person was also suspected to be driving under the influence of Class A drugs.

They were arrested for the suspected offences – and their vehicle was seized.

This is part of a proactive night time economy deployment to target individuals committing crime in the area.

Neighbours by John Gorham

We all have them in one way or another, the house next door, the next house along the road, the house over the field. Why am I stating the obvious?

How well do you know your neighbour? Do you get along with your neighbour? Do your neighbours drive you mad?

I know that alot of people do not get on with their neighbours, but you should stop and think. They are the ones that could help you in your hour of need.

We attend a lot of calls where concern has been raised for a neighbour, and if it comes to it and we force entry, a lot of times this concern call has saved someone’s life.

We also attend calls where a neighbour has reported suspicious activity next door, and sometimes it has prevented something happening to the neighbours house.

My point is, we all have to live with our neighbours, and the best way to do that is to get along with them, I am not saying “live in each others pockets”, but just to be aware of them, say hello, and be polite.

I will be on routine patrol on the Romney Marsh area, checking areas and being about. I am always open to a cheery wave!

Police Surgery by John Gorham

This message is mainly for residents of Romney Marsh Area.

I will be holding a Police Surgery, at Lydd Police Station front Counter on 10/02/22 between 19.00 and 20.00 hours. There is ample parking, and should it be needed, wheelchair access.

The purpose of this surgery is for local people to attend and see their local officer/officers and to discuss any issues you have that you think Police can help you with. I have also included other areas of Folkestone and Hythe, as if you are passing, I will always take any issues you have and send them on to the officer that covers your area.

These surgeries will be run once a month, and  will inform you of the next one closer to the date. There are also plans to hold the same sort of thing in Dymchurch and New Romney, and dates and times will be circulated to you.

Please note, I will observe social distancing, and would prefer you wear a face covering when attending, only one person at a time in the office area, unless you have a carer or child with you.

And contrary to popular belief, I will NOT be suppling tea and coffee !!!!Please come along even if its just to say hello.

As always, stay safe and well.
