A suspected thief is in custody after officers quickly responded to a report of a vehicle being tampered with in Swanley.
Kent Police was called to the incident in Woodview Road at 1.30am on Wednesday 9 February 2022. Patrols attended where a van window had been smashed and the victim reported some personal belongings missing.
The area was searched and a 51-year-old man from Swanley was arrested nearby. Officers seized some tools including two screwdrivers and one of the victim’s cards that had been reported stolen from the van.
Offensive weapon
The suspect was detained on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle, going equipped, possession of an offensive weapon, affray and assault of an emergency worker after an officer reported being assaulted during the arrest.
Enquiries remain ongoing.
